World Premiere tour of Lowell Liebermann’s Frankenstein!

It is an absolute honor to premiere Lowell Liebermann’s Three Dances from FRANKENSTEIN this season – a major new virtuoso piano work commissioned through funds from The Gilmore – and based on Liebermann’s ballet Frankenstein. The World Premiere took place at the Gower Festival in Wales and was selected by BBC Music Magazine as one of the month’s best concert highlights in the UK. The NYC premiere takes place October 10 and 11, 2023 at Death of Classical’s The Crypt Sessions!

First Prize at New York Liszt International Piano Competition

It was an absolute thrill to be awarded First Prize at the New York Liszt International Piano Competition. Performing Liszt Concerto No. 1 at Carnegie Hall – Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage with the Orchestra of St. Luke’s and Gabor Hollerung conducting, is an experience I will never forget! Performance with Mauro Castillo at Lang Lang Gala

It was a privilege and a blast to perform with Mauro Castillo from the cast of Disney’s “Encanto” at Lang Lang’s Fall Gala 2022 and Birthday Bash! The Gala at Cipriani Broadway and earlier Pre-Gala Sunset Soiree at Christopher Burch’s new Watermill residence are particularly meaningful to me because of the huge impact Lang Lang has had on my life since I was 11 years old.

A personal tribute to my friend – Chick Corea

I took the loss of Chick Corea from this world very hard. I realize now that he will always be with us. He will be a major influence in my thought process forever. Click here for a concert I performed back in April as a musical dedication to Chick. The idea was to create a program that for me connected to Chick , jazz, and hearing classical music in new ways.

Sibelius and Khachaturian at the Morgan in NYC

I was excited to play and share these two rarely performed Sonatas by Sibelius and Khachaturian! What a great surprise that the performance was featured in this terrific article in The New Criterion. Over 35 Virtual Concerts and some reflective thoughts

Early on in the pandemic, I performed over 35 virtual concerts. Highlights include my own livestream series to raise funds for civil rights organizations; and concert programs for presenters such as The Violin Channel, Gilmore Keyboard Festival, Manchester Music Festival, Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, YCA, Johns Hopkins University, Cosmos Club, Candlelight Concerts, LLIMF and others. Beethoven with Daniel Hope, Lynn Harrell and ZKO

This was an experience I will never forget – a three generation concert tour with Daniel Hope, Lynn Harrell, and the Zurich Chamber Orchestra, performing Beethoven’s Triple Concerto and Trios. A few months later the world lost Lynn Harrell, one of the most beloved cellists of his generation and a very special individual who I am so grateful to have met.

Steinway Hall with Alec Baldwin

For the past seven years I have performed in countless events for the Lang Lang International Music Foundation – each one with its own special ambience, stunning location, celebrities, fantastic food, and of course music! This time the concert was at Steinway Hall, hosted by Alec Baldwin and written up in The Jewish Voice and Taki’s “Why 2019 has been a wonderful year” in The Spectator.

GRAMMY Salute to Classical Music at Carnegie Hall

Happened in January and I forgot to post – but this was an exciting concert to celebrate the legacy of Leonard Bernstein, with his own daughter Jamie Bernstein and Lang Lang hosting the special event. The Lang Lang Young Scholars performed three-piano arrangements of West Side Story and Candide, and we shared the stage with Kiana Ledé, Ledisi, Time For Three, and Isabel Leonard. It was a particularly moving concert as half of the audience filling the Issac Stern Hall were children brought in to share the event!
