Another concert with Lang Lang, this time with the amazing Toronto Symphony and Maestro Peter Oundjian conducting! It was a magical concert focusing on the importance of mentorship. Maestro Oundjian talked about first mentoring Lang Lang when he was 15, and how now Lang Lang was doing the same for me – the whole concert and the gala celebration afterwards felt especially moving to me!  The reviews were also quite fun: “While it’s unlike any version I’ve ever heard, I think Gershwin would love what they did, at times crossing over one another, a technical tour de force. Sometimes we heard playing of restraint & wonderful elegance, sometimes big full sounds and everything in between” –  and from another reviewer ” The connection with his partner, Maxim Lando, had an enthusiastic, uplifting spirit along with wonderful synchronicity and jazz flair. The dynamic contrasts with the power of two pianists were astounding. I am not sure I want to hear this performed again by just one pianist.”
