My dad and I had a lot of fun playing this beautiful Tchaikovsky Melody (originally for violin and piano) at an Open House event at the Great Neck Music Conservatory.

I remember your dad when I was 13. He came to Canada from Russia and was suddenly in my music class, mid-semester. I also played clarinet. Your dad completely blew us all away. He played what we played at the time which was only songs like “Flintstones” cartoon theme song and I dream of “Jeanie” theme song, only he played them with extra notes added and GOOD. He blew the music teacher at Ken Seaford High School away and now that I see what you are doing, he is blowing me away all over again! One story i still tell to this day is how much your dad seemed to appreciate his new country. He would invite us all over for lunch period at his apartment and would even play for us! I don’t even know how I remembered all this, but I heard some clarinet the other day and a google search later! I live in BC now. Keep up the good work, you have the genes for it!

I remember your dad Vadim from our time st St. Norbert Collegiate. He was a good friend of mine and we got into minor trouble together. He was so amazing that he didn’t have to go to band class. He just showed up for concerts and performed solos that blew everyone away and won awards for the band. I wasn’t in the band but I knew Vadim would continue to excel in music.
I tried to teach him how to play basketball which was a lot of fun. We had fun going off to the river near our school at lunch some times. We once swam the river on a dare on the day before it froze over.
I now have three teenage sons myself and still live in Winnipeg. I wish for them teenage friends as good as Vadim was to me.
