This past Monday I had the amazing opportunity to play on the Jupiter Symphony Chamber Players concert series in NYC. My dad plays on this series all the time with other incredible musicians who come from all over the country to play on the series. This time the Director invited me to play, and I played a really beautiful trio by Julius Rontgen.
Most people have never heard of Rontgen because his music is hardly ever played. I hope this changes because his music is really special. Can you believe he wrote over 600 works and that he was really good friends with Grieg and Brahms? He even played piano for Liszt when he was just a kid!
We played the concert twice, once in the afternoon and once at night. After the first concert I ate dinner at an Italian restaurant with my grandma, grandpa and a couple of my mom’s friends. After the first concert I didn’t think that I would have energy to play the piano any more, so it surprised me that I played well on the second concert.
I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT I HAD THIS INCREDIBLE CHANCE TO PLAY ON JUPITER SYMPHONY!!! After I played the piece by Julius Rontgen, I played an encore by Chopin. Finally I went home thinking about the wonderful concert I just played!!!
