Wow! I just came back from a music festival in Barcelona, Spain, where I really had the time of my life! This program was through a partnership of the Lang Lang International Music Foundation and Allianz.
14 young pianists from all over the world (10 different countries) were selected to come together to make music: our passion! Every single expense of the program was covered for us and our parents, and the entire week we were pampered with fantastic activities (musical and non musical). I made such great friends with all of the other kids. By the end of the first day, we all already felt like family!
Of course one of the biggest highlights of the trip was playing in a concert/masterclass for a huge audience and the international piano star Lang Lang!
In addition to music we had the opportunity to do so many other interesting things. We went on tours to some of the most well known places in Barcelona including the beach, a science museum, some of Gaudi’s buildings, and FC Barcelona. Seeing the magnificent Sagrada Familia in real life was like a dream come true! FC Barcelona is one of the best football “soccer” teams in the world. We were actually allowed in the soccer field were they play their games. All of the kids held up the giant trophy that the team won!
We had daily piano lessons, rehearsed chamber music, and also preformed two concerts in a very special school. All of the kids who attend the special school play an instrument, and almost all of them will go on to a music college when they graduate. After we preformed, the kids from the school made dessert for us and we all had a chance to talk!
At the end of the week everyone was in tears because nobody wanted to leave! It was such a magical week that not one person even thought about their normal life at home. The experience was so special and unforgettable, it is hard to believe that we were only in Barcelona for 6 days.
I can not say thank you enough to the Lang Lang International Music Foundation and Allianz for making this possible!
