At OBMF Waterfront Concert Since I haven’t written for a while, I am going to skip over some exciting events of May and June (including a full length chamber music recital in NYC, a wonderful masterclass with Sean Chen, an amazing fundraising concert, and a very fun Great Neck Music Conservatory Gala Concert at Carnegie Hall) to tell you about one of my favorite summer activities –the Oyster Bay Music Festival. This was the third OBMF, and it was better than ever. I made new friends and performed everywhere in Oyster Bay, Long Island –17 times in nine days. I performed in churches, museums, the Oyster Bay Historical Society, next to a big boat being rebuilt at the Waterfront, on the street outside of Billy Joel’s motorcycle shop, in senior centers, and every day at the local bakery “Gulden’s Bakery”.

It was amazing and so much fun. At the Waterfront, I played for people who know a lot about boats but some of them had never heard classical music live. They loved it! At Christ Church, I played as a headliner for a vocal madrigal group and the audience gave me a full standing ovation. That was fun! Everywhere I went I had a beautiful Steinway Piano to play thanks to Steinway and Sons who moved grand pianos to every crazy location where the festival kept dreaming up concerts. The only bad part was when the festival ended, and now I have to wait until next year.
